Mayor’s Message

Mayor Gerry Thiessen

Our council was elected in November 2008 and has spent the first few months making sure that we are familiar with the current projects in Vanderhoof. We are also evaluating our goals for this coming term. I have been impressed with the enthusiasm for projects in the community which has translated into attendance of the public on council night meetings.

If you live in our community you will notice that even when the world economy has struggled, we still have a number of projects on the go. We certainly are looking forward to spring when we will see a lot more activity which will include finishing off our sports field; work on the Historical Park project, the Trails System, the Airport lighting, water treatment system, the completion of the museum upgrade and much more.

For those living outside of our community we ask you to take time to visit our web site. If you are looking for somewhere to travel on your holiday this year you will find Vanderhoof has many attractions. I think you will find a great combination of outdoor activities as well as western Canada history in our area and you will find Vanderhoof as a great base for those activities.

Should you want to invest we would encourage you to talk to our Economic Development Officer who will show you that we are well located, stable and loyal employees, lots of resources in our area, good schools, great medical facilities, and all with in an hour of Prince George.
